Jack Doyle was an Irish boxer born on August 31, 1913. He was also known as 'The Gorgeous Gael' due to his good looks and charming personality. Doyle began his boxing career in 1932, and before long, he became the Irish Heavyweight Champion. He quickly gained popularity due to his good looks, talent, and flamboyant personality.
In 1934, Doyle traveled to the US to continue his boxing career. He fought many prominent boxers, such as Joe Louis, and became a fan favorite in America as well. However, despite his success in the ring, Doyle's personal life often overshadowed his boxing career. He was known for his partying lifestyle, which led to alcohol addiction and financial difficulties.
Doyle's boxing career came to an abrupt end in 1942 when he was drafted to fight in World War II. He served in the British Army but was later discharged due to health issues. After the war, he attempted to make a comeback but was unsuccessful. Doyle passed away in 1978 at the age of 64 due to liver failure, which was attributed to his heavy drinking habits.
